We are pleased to announce that Qianheng Ma, 5th year doctoral student, was selected by the Society of Multivariate Experimental Psychology (SMEP), to receive the 2021 SMEP Dissertation Research Grant. In her dissertation, Qianheng is developing several new statistical approaches for modeling Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) data. Such data, which are often collected via smart electronic devices and wearable health trackers, have given rise to the field of mobile health (mHealth) and significantly changed the landscape of public health research. This dissertation research grant will help support Qianheng in completing her dissertation by the end of this academic year. We’d also like to acknowledge Professor Don Hedeker, who serves as her advisor.
